Samsung | Football in Hyper Real

Samsung | NFL

At the time this was a very complex and ground breaking film production. We partnered with Motion Theory in LA to create this full Above the Line TV and Print campaign
featuring Eli Manning, Dan Marino and Brandon Jacobs.

The CAmpaign

We sold in a unique, first of its kind concept to Samsung and the NFL that would not only highlight their new LED TV’s but combine real action players with cutting edge motion graphics. The content was shot in front of massive green backdrops (some spanning the length of the practice facilities). By partnering with the talent at Motion Theory and working closely with our Director Grady Hill we executed these exciting TV spots that aired on ESPN during Sportscenter and ran throughout the NFL season on NFL Sunday. Filmed using the Cheetah High Speed Motion Control Camera Dolly from Pacific Motion Control.

:30 TV SPOT Regular Season
This was the first job that the Cheetah High-Speed Motion Control Dolly was used on. The Cheetah dolly was required to repeatedly run at 20 feet per second, and performed flawlessly throughout the shoot. It was readily able to accurately repeat both slow, and VERY FAST motion control camera moves, and has proven itself as the fastest direct-drive motion control dolly in the industry.

The client also required a very low-profile camera head for the shot, so a custom low-profile motion control camera head was also constructed specifically for this commercial. The head allowed for adjustable locking tilt, and fully repeatable motion-controlled pan, and measured approximately 5 inches, from the base to the top of the camera plate. It was built to hold a full-sized 35mm film camera, but for this commercial, it held a Sony F23 CineAlta High-Definition digital video camera, which was used to shoot the motion control passes at multiple frame rates.

The footage from this shoot was used for multiple Samsung/NFL commercials, including the "Playoff" commercial, featuring music by ZZ Top. It was also used extensively for interactive content on the Samsung website.
